Today was an inspiring day of professional growth as our entire staff gathered for a high-impact workshop facilitated by the distinguished Dr. Prossie Bbaale Mukasa from the Uganda Management Institute (UMI).

A school is more than just a place of learning; it is a community built on relationships. Today’s session focused on the “soft skills” that make a hard-hitting difference in the quality of education and service we provide.

Key Pillars of the Workshop:

• Customer Care Relationships: Dr. Prossie reminded us that every parent, student, and visitor is a valued customer and above all a stakeholder. We explored strategies for building trust, practicing active listening, and delivering “service from the heart” to ensure our school delivers the best service and remains a welcoming environment. To bring these concepts to life, our teachers performed creative and insightful skits, demonstrating best practices in handling parents, school alumni and the wider community. We learnt that EQ is more important than IQ in effective management of the school
• Emotional Intelligence (EQ): Understanding our own emotions and empathizing with others is the secret to effective teaching and leadership. We explored self-awareness and self-regulation—essential tools for managing the daily joys and challenges of school life.
• The Power of Teamwork: “Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.” The session highlighted how breaking down communication barriers and supporting one another leads to a more vibrant and efficient school culture.

The Takeaway

Professionalism isn’t just about what we know; it’s about how we treat people. By combining high Emotional Intelligence with exceptional Customer Care and seamless Teamwork, we are better equipped to serve our students and families with excellence.
